Twilight is basically a series about a girl that falls in love with a vampier. I absolutely hate to read, but I read the first Twilight book in 3 days, it was definitely the best book that I’ve ever read. The romance is really sweet, and well written. The back of the book was enough to get me interested. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy it, everyone else that I know loves them!

I am not sure exactly what you are asking but I will do my best to answer anyway.
As far as political there is VERY little political content, I honestly cannot think of anything that pertains to politics in Twilight.
As far as historical, there isn’t much for historical content that Meyer didn’t make up, except for some of the Quileute Tribe’s (La Push, Washington) legends, all though to my knowledge all of the legend’s about the “cold ones” were made up by Meyer.
I am not sure exactly what you mean by social… There is lots of interacting with people, and conversation. But I honestly do not understand your question. Try stepheniemeyer.com it has a lot of info about the books and fansites. I hope this helped a little, I am sorry I couldn’t be of more use to you.

The apple definitely represents the forbidden fruit, but I don’t think its clear which one (Bella or Edward) is the forbidden fruit. In fact, I think one of the fantastic parts of the story, is that they are both bad for each other- they are both forbidden to one another.
There is a part where Bella fiddles with the apple while she first starts talking to Edward at lunch.. where shes trying to figure out what he is… you probably remember the awkward yet brillant theme.
Stephenie Meyers words:
The apple on the cover of Twilight represents “forbidden fruit.” I used the scripture from Genesis (located just after the table of contents) because I loved the phrase “the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.” Isn’t this exactly what Bella ends up with? A working knowledge of what good is, and what evil is. The nice thing about the apple is it has so many symbolic roots. You’ve got the apple in Snow White, one bite and you’re frozen forever in a state of not-quite-death… Then you have Paris and the golden apple in Greek mythology—look how much trouble that started. Apples are quite the versatile fruit. In the end, I love the beautiful simplicity of the picture. To me it says: choice.
